Introduction

INTACH Calcutta Regional Chapter under the West Bengal Chapter strives to work with the mission to ‘conserve heritage based on the belief that living in harmony with heritage enhances the quality of life, and it is the duty of every citizen of India as laid down in the honourable Constitution of India’.

Calcutta Regional Chapter undertakes activities towards: 
  • Creating awareness about the cultural heritage of the local area and its significance. 
  • By organising, associating and supporting initiatives of restoration and maintenance of tangible and intangible heritage of the region.
  • Collaborating with schools, colleges, universities and other academic institutions to develop awareness on heritage conservation. 
  • Organise heritage walks, folk festivals, talk sessions and similar events to spread knowledge and sensitising on the need for conservation among the community 
  • Initiating and implementing projects to emphasise on the value of preserving heritage
  • Writing and publication of books, articles, blogs, etc focussed on the history and culture of Kolkata district as well as the region and specific historical or cultural sites.
