Anagarika Dharmapala Museum at Sarnath, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

Anagārika Dharmapāla (17 Sep 1864- 29 Apr 1933) is best known as a major reformer and revivalist of Sinhala Buddhism; a leading figure in the Sri Lankan independence movement against British rule. He founded the Maha Bodhi Society in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), raised funds for the restoration of the most important Buddhist sites in Bodh-Gaya (Bihar) and Sarnath (Varanasi), which had deteriorated after centuries of neglect. In 2000, the Anagārika Dharmapāla Museum was established in the premises of Maha Bodhi Society Campus for the memories of the great figure.
