On 11 December, the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Chairman, Shri Ashok Singh Thakur, conducted an official visit to the INTACH Calcutta Chapter, INTACH Conservation Institute located in Hastings. His one-day visit highlighted ongoing heritage conservation and restoration works in West Bengal and INTACH’s commitment toward environmental sustainability. In this short span, the Chairman engaged in a series of productive discussions aimed at strengthening regional preservation initiatives.
At INTACH Conservation Institute, Shri. Ashok Singh Thakur interacted with Mr. G. M. Kapur, Convenor, INTACH Calcutta Chapter, Mr. Subash Chandra Baral, Senior Conservator and the Chapter’s staff, experts and young trainees. He addressed local restoration challenges and administrative goals. The interactions focused on the technical aspects of heritage conservation and roadmap for the Kolkata Chapter in the coming year. The Chairman also visited the Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, accompanied by Mr. G. M. Kapur, INTACH West Bengal and Calcutta Regional Chapter Convener. Mr. Singh Thakur reviewed the Mangrove Plantation project site within the gardens.
