The majestic Hooghly River came alive at Prinsep Ghat-1 with “ANANDA” – A Boat Show to Rediscover the River and Its Vessels, a one-of-a-kind event organized by the Sea Explorers’ Institute in collaboration with the INTACH Calcutta Chapter.
The show celebrated the maritime heritage of Bengal, showcasing traditional boats, indigenous craftsmanship, and the cultural legacy of river-based livelihoods. With heritage vessels on display and live demonstrations, the event aimed to reconnect the city with its historic riverine roots. The scenic banks of the Hooghly served as the perfect backdrop for this immersive tribute to the region’s forgotten maritime traditions.
