On 15 September, INTACH Calcutta Chapter Convenor Mr. G.M. Kapur and Ms. Kaberi Chattopadhyay from SMP, Kolkata moderated the discussion and question and answer session, ‘Memories and Identity’ on the Indentured Memorial Day. The Syama Prasad Mookherjee Port (SMP), Kolkata organised the ‘Indentured Memorial Day: A Commemorative Seminar’ at Indenture Memorial in Kidderpore, Kolkata. The event celebrated the resilience of Indian indentured labourers who set sail from Kolkata Port between 1834 and 1920 to other countries and settled there for livelihood.
