INTACH Calcutta Chapter Meeting: Stories of Kolkata’s Unique Figures

On 25 August, INTACH Calcutta Chapter members held the Chapter Meeting at Bingsha Shatabdi, Park Street, for a productive session dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the city’s heritage. Presided by Convenor Mr. G.M. Kapur, along with Co-Convenors Ms. Kanchana Mukhopadhyay and Ms. Nayantara Palchoudhuri, the meeting served as a comprehensive review of the Chapter’s current initiatives. Members engaged in detailed discussions on progress reports of ongoing conservation projects and plans for upcoming Chapter activities.The evening concluded with a captivating presentation by writer and columnist Mr. Devasis Chattopadhyay. He introduced his latest book, Harry Hobbs of Kolkata and Other Forgotten Lives, which opened an enthusiastic dialogue among the audience. The talk delved into the lives of often overlooked figures who shaped the social fabric of the city, stoking a renewed curiosity for the City of Joy’s rich, layered past.
