INTACH FilmIt India Festival: 18 Years of Heritage Filmmaking

On 5 February, INTACH celebrated 18 years of heritage filmmaking with FilmIt India Film Festival at the Apeejay School, Park Street, organized by the Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) of INTACH, New Delhi. FilmIt project which began in 2008, has become an annual event. The festival received participation from 15 schools and 58 students across the city. Mrs. Anita Bhattacharya, INTACH FilmIt in-charge at Apeejay School, opened the festival with a welcome speech, followed by speech by Ms. Paromita Guha Ray, Principle, Apeejay School, Kolkata. Mr. Nilav Bose an award-winning filmmaker, photographer and public speaker was the chief guest. Mr. Bose shared his experiences in still and movie visual storytelling, inspiring the young cohort to find unique narratives within their local history and traditions. Mr. Abhishek Das, representing INTACH HECS, conducted the FilmIt Film Festival workshop. Mr. Das emphasized on the importance of digital media as a useful tool for conservation, documenting of cultural heritage. Leading young impressionable minds to explore the positive and constructive uses of digital gadgets.
