On 03 January 2026, INTACH Calcutta Chapter celebrated the New Year with a Chapter Meeting held at the INTACH office rooftop on Chapel Road, Hastings. Chaired by Convenor Mr. G.M. Kapur, the evening served as both a professional review of the Chapter’s milestones and a warm gathering to ‘ring in the New Year’. Highlighting the session were two significant presentations by distinguished INTACH members Anjan Mitra and Sujata Sett.
Renowned Architect Anjan Mitra shared insights into the meticulous restoration of the iconic New Market clock tower. An act of efficiency and expertise, the project was completed ahead of schedule, standing tall and restored just in time to clock in the Christmas festivities. Filmmaker Sujata Sett discussed the success of her documentary, ‘Enlightened Soul: The Three Names of Umadevi’. The documentary earned prestigious recognition by being selected for screening at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) 2025, highlighting the intersection of cinema, history and cultural storytelling.
